The Development and Continuity of Estonian Semiotics in an International Context
Abstract
The aim of the project is to ensure the sustainability of research on Estonian semiotics by supporting the activities of the research group during a transitional period. The project seeks to mitigate the risk of interruptions in research activities, which could otherwise harm both the continuity of scientific work and the impact and visibility of Estonian semiotics in the international academic arena. The main activities of the project include: 1) preparing new funding applications to ensure the continuity and expansion of the discipline; 2) publishing and disseminating research results, including fostering collaboration with internal and international partners; and 3) promoting the research outcomes and significance of the project to a broader audience, with a focus on both the academic community and culturally engaged public. The methods applied include social network analysis and interdisciplinary and sociocultural mapping, aimed at exploring the international impact and collaboration networks of Estonian semiotics. The project aligns with the strategic research objectives of Tallinn University by providing a platform for advancing international research collaboration and strengthening the university’s position as an interdisciplinary research hub.
