Suitable sowing times, growth-period mowing, soil incorporation, and fertilization technologies for green manure crops

Toom, Merili

Abstract

The aim of the project is to study the impact of different agro-technological solutions on the biomass of spring-sown winter-killed green manure crops, the amount of associated nutrients and organic carbon, and the mobility of nutrients in the soil profile. Additionally, the project aims to assess the effects of these factors on the yield and quality of winter wheat grown as a subsequent crop. The experiment will compare five different green manure crop mixtures and analyze the effects of sowing time (early or late sowing), in-season mowing, different soil tillage methods and fertilization. The study will identify the most effective solutions for growing and incorporating green manure crops to enhance the yield of the subsequent crop while also considering environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
