Abstract
Synapses require local energy sources for functionality, and disruptions in mitochondrial function can lead to neurodegenerative diseases. This project aims to develop tools for high-content imaging of mitochondrial density and ATP levels in synapses, and to identify molecular strategies to enhance local ATP production, thereby promoting axonal health in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases.
