Baltica Grant for the foreign researchers

The Baltica Department of the Talllinn University Academic Library has an extencive, scientificly valuable and a diversity of subject fields covering collection, which is based on the collection of the Estonian Literary Society (Estländische Literärische Gesellschaft), a Baltic German scientific society. Do get a better overview of our collection we wish to involve foreign researchers, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows. Baltica Grant for the foreign researchers is a scholarship for doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, which would enable them to work with the historical collection of Baltica and Rare Books of the Tallinn University Academic Library. With the help of the grant we wish to create a better insight into our collections, to present them (through colloquiums) to Estonian and (through publications) to international audiences, making our collection and university better visible and known in Estonia as well as abroad. We want to attract young foreign researchers to deal with baltica subjects, to provide future researchers for this important subject field from the point of view of cultural histrory of Estonia. Since the collection includes largely materials in foreign languages, first of all in German, foreign researchers have a good oppurtunity to contribute for a profound understanding of it. The grant promotes interdiciplinarity and building up an international network of colleagues, it ideally helps to establish contacts to universities, scientific and memory institutions abroad and to enlarge the circle of people empathetic to Estonia.
