Implementation study of digital chronic pain clinic components
Abstract
Chronic pain is pain that lasts for more than 3 months or recurs within a period of more than 3 months. Prevalence estimates of chronic pain range from 10% to 40%; prevalence increases with age, and chronic pain is more common among older adults, women, and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. In the general population of Estonia, the estimated prevalence of chronic pain was 12.4%. The management and treatment of chronic pain is interdisciplinary, meaning that biological, psychological, and social factors need to be addressed. Interdisciplinary treatment involves combining services into a comprehensive program and frequent communication between different pain management specialists (such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, etc.). The aim of Phase I of the research is to analyse the applicability of a digital headache clinic in the management of chronic pain patients. The results of Phase I of the research will be used as input for developing the minimum viable product (MVP) of the digital chronic pain clinic. The aim of Phase II of the research is to analyse the applicability of the MVP of the digital chronic pain clinic in the management of chronic pain patients
