Abstract
Impacts of mass tourism by the fast tourism model have led to overcrowded attractions, strained infrastructure, and an erosion of local culture and community wellbeing. AGENTS focuses on creating awareness on the benefits of slow tourism, values in tourism behavior, innovating slow tourism products, and offering education on slow tourism. The project supports the sustainable development of the tourism industry. The objective is to engage local people and businesses in the locations of partners. The project will study attitudes and values on sustainable and slow tourism and develop learning materials and courses to impact learners and teach about slow tourism. The project will work with local businesses in six cities located in the partners' countries and innovate new kinds of slow tourism services and products together with students. AGENTS will develop an online community to act as an interactive dissemination channel to promote learning and slow tourism. The project develops a MOOC (5 ECTS) and a 20 ECTS study module on slow tourism including a 10 ECTS Learning Tour for curriculum development; innovates new slow tourism products; a guidebook that presents the activities of the project for further implementation, a series of documents on Youtube channel, studies on attitudes and values on sustainable tourism, and an online community for sharing and learning. A total of 600 ECTS from Learning Tours and 500 ECTS from the pilot MOOC are expected.
